The awesome Victoria Falls , one of the Seven Wonders of the World , is found on the Zambezi River only an hour away from Harare by air. A walk through the forest jungle produced by the spray coming from the falls takes you to the mesmerizing viewpoints. At the Victoria Falls, the one mile wide Zambezi river carrying over 550,000 cubic meters of water per minute plunges over 100 meters in the Zambezi Gorge making a thunderous noise. The ensuing spray billowing up the sky can be seen 70 km away. At Victoria Falls , one can choose to either just contend with taking the photos from the viewpoints or fly over the falls on a light aircraft or a hot air balloon. |
For the adventurous, there is bunji jumping from the bridge to the gorge and white-water rafting in the turbulent river downstream. A sunset cruise on the Zimbabwe River above the falls is very popular. |
Extension a day tour to Hwange National Park (the Biggest National Park in Zimbabwe ), Livingstone ( Zambia ) or Chobe National Park ( Botswana ) will make the trip even more exciting. |
